Women’s cricket has set a new record for the biggest opening weekend of any ICC event.
The match between India and Pakistan became the largest match of any group stage match in the history of the Women’s World Cup with 18,814 spectators.
The India-Pakistan Women’s match has become the most digitally accessible match in any format in the women’s cricket league stage.
In this regard, the ICC says that the live digital coverage of the tournament has reached 21.5 million viewers so far. The India-Pakistan women’s match was watched by more than 13.4 million people and recorded a record viewing time of 1.1 billion minutes.
According to the ICC, the digital views of the Women’s T20 World Cup increased by almost 150% in the opening weekend compared to the previous edition. Videos related to the tournament have been viewed more than 753 million times on social media.
Content shared under the ICC Creative Program has received more than 61.7 million video views, while ICCTV has recorded a 75% increase in live streaming unique users and total viewing time.
The Cricket Council says the T20 Women’s World Cup 2026 is on track to be the biggest event in the history of women’s cricket. The event has broken many records for attendance, viewership and digital engagement.
ICC Chief Executive Sanjog Gupta says the dramatic increase in the popularity of women’s cricket is welcome. Our aim is to further raise the standard of women’s cricket and attract a new generation to the game.
