The Pakistan football team has confirmed its participation in the inaugural FIFA ASEAN Cup after being invited by the world football organization FIFA.
The FIFA ASEAN Cup is a new regional national football tournament launched by FIFA and the Association of Southeast Nations (ASEAN). The tournament will be played from September 21 to October 6 in Indonesia, and different national teams from the region will participate.
According to reports, apart from Pakistan, the host teams of Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand will also participate in the tournament.
This will be a milestone in Pakistan’s football history as the national team will participate in a FIFA tournament for the first time apart from the FIFA World Cup and continental competitions.
The tournament will provide a valuable opportunity for Pakistan to test their skills against strong local teams and gain experience at the international level, especially at a time when football in the country is on the road to revival.
According to reports, the development of relations between FIFA and Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) President Mohsin Geelani played a major role in Pakistan’s participation in this event.
It is worth mentioning that recently the Pakistan football team won the title by defeating Afghanistan in the final of the Diamond Jubilee International tournament held in Male.
