A sanction of Rs 150 million has been approved for the Pakistan Hockey Federation.
According to reports, the 5th meeting of the Aid Committee was held under the chairmanship of Maryam Aurangzeb, the Chief Minister of the Province, and on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, 150 million rupees were accepted for the Pakistan Hockey Federation.
Maryam Aurangzeb said that short, medium and long term plans have been prepared for the revival of hockey in Punjab. It has been decided to hold hockey tournaments in schools and colleges across Punjab.
Hockey kits, protective equipment, jerseys, shoes and salaries will be provided to the players. It was agreed to hire international coaches and master teachers to train the players.
Meryem Aurangzeb said that according to the opinion of Chief Minister Meryem Nawaz, a network of hockey academies will be established throughout Punjab. The installation of turf and modern floodlights for the hockey players was also considered.
The senior minister of Punjab said that former Olympians of the national team will be entrusted with the responsibility of training the youth as mentors.
