After 21 years, Bangladesh beat Australia in an ODI match

Mirpur: Bangladesh cricket team defeated Australia by 86 runs in the first ODI of the 3-match series and won the ODI against the Kangaroos after 21 years.

In the first match of the 3 ODI series between the teams of the two countries, the visiting team Australia won and invited the hosts Bangladesh to bat first.

Bangladesh scored 284 runs for 8 wickets in 50 overs. Musadiq Hussain played 86 runs, Necemul Hasan Shanto played 67 and Tanzid Hasan played 54 runs.

For Australia, Nathan Ellis took 3 wickets, Liam Scott and Matt Renshaw took 2 wickets each, Xavier Bartlett took 1 wicket.

In pursuit of the goal, the Australian team faced difficulties. When Australia scored 191 for 9 wickets in 42.2 overs, the match was stopped due to rain, after which the play could not start and thus Bangladesh beat Australia by 86 runs by DLS method and lead 0-1 in the series.

Cameron Green scored 52 runs and Alex Carey scored 47 runs. Naheed Rana took 4 wickets while bowling carefully for Bangladesh.

It is worth mentioning that Bangladesh won ODI cricket against Australia after 21 years. Earlier, Bangladesh last beat Australia by 5 wickets in an ODI match on June 18, 2005 in Cardiff.

The second ODI between Bangladesh and Australia will be played tomorrow and the last ODI of the series is scheduled for June 14, followed by three T20Is on June 17, 19 and 21 in Chittogram.
