The pitch was the most talked about during Pakistan’s 1-2 win in the three-match ODI series against Australia.
In Rawalpindi and Lahore, the hosts produced spin-friendly innings to take advantage against a relatively weak Australian side.
Pakistan clinched the series after a low-scoring thriller at the Gaddafi Stadium on Thursday.
However, critics say such waves will not help much in the build-up to the 2027 ODI World Cup as the tournament will be played in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia, where the fast bowlers are likely to get more support.
Captain Shaheen Shah Afridi defended the stage strategy and said that every team creates the right conditions to win at their ground.
According to him, the World Cup is still 15 months away and the national team has plenty of time to prepare on different wickets.
Opportunities were also given to young actors in the series. Left-arm spinner Arafat Minhas started his ODI career with a five-wicket haul in the opening match and was named the Man of the Series.
Abrar Ahmed also showed an interesting bowling.
On the other hand, Shadab Khan’s return to the team became the center of attention. Although he struggled with bowling in the first two matches, he showed better performances later on.
In batting as well, Shadab played a vital role in the team’s success by playing crucial games, on which Shaheen Afridi described him as a major positive aspect of the series.
