Pakistan’s left-arm pacer and captain Shaheen Shah Afridi achieved a unique honor in the ODI match against Australia. Shaheen Afridi became the third captain to take a wicket in the first innings for Pakistan as captain in ODIs.
In the match played in Lahore, Shaheen Shah Afridi achieved this historic feat by dismissing Australian player Alex Carey in the first wicket. Carey lost his wicket trying to play the ball offside.
Shaheen Afridi joins the list of two former captains of Pakistan, Wasim Akram and Waqar Yunis. Earlier, Wasim Ekram dismissed Andy Flower in the first wicket against Zimbabwe in Karachi in 1993, while Waqar Younis achieved the feat by taking the wicket of Marcus Trescothick against England in Leeds in 2001.
Shaheen didn’t limit himself to taking wickets on the first ball, but performed well and dismissed three bowlers for 36 runs in eight overs.
