The Board of Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed former opener Siraj Behotle as the new spin bowling coach of the men’s team.

Siraj Behotle played 2 Tests and 8 ODIs for India in his international career, while scoring 6176 runs and taking 630 wickets in first-class cricket, and is a long-time favorite in domestic cricket.

Speaking to the Indian Cricket Board, Siraj Behotle said that he is honored to be appointed as the spin bowling coach of the men’s team.

He said that representing India as a player was a matter of pride for him and now it is important to play a role in Indian cricket again through coaching.

He said he is excited to work with the players and play his part in the team’s journey to progress in all formats.

It is worth mentioning that the Indian team will return from the Test match against Afghanistan for the first time in international cricket after winning the ICCT World Twenty20 in March this year.

The one-off Test match between India and Afghanistan will begin on June 6 in Milanpur, followed by a three-match ODI series scheduled for June 13, 17 and 20.

After the Afghanistan series, the Indian team will visit England for a white-ball series consisting of five T20 matches and three ODIs.
