Paris:
The joy of winning the biggest European football cup turned into riots in several places in the French capital Paris, thousands of supporters of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) took to the streets and in some places there were violent clashes with the police.
After the victory in the Champions League final, the city was in a state of celebration, but as the night wore on, the situation became tense.
In many places, the agitators damaged people’s property and targeted vehicles and commercial centers, and the police had to act to control the situation.
According to the statement of the French Ministry of Interior, more than 416 people were detained during the unrest.
Due to security issues, 22,000 police officers were deployed across the country, and 8,000 police officers were deployed in Paris alone.
According to the police authorities, as a result of the clashes, at least one policeman was injured and 6 vehicles and 2 commercial centers were also damaged.
Some fans also threw themselves on the famous ring road (Peripherique) of Paris, which caused the traffic system to be affected and fireworks were lit in many places.
To control the situation, many tram services were stopped, many subway stations were closed and bus services were also stopped in some areas.
While PSG’s historic victory delighted millions of fans, the violent incidents that took place during the celebration created new problems for management.
Clashes between security forces and protesters continued throughout the night in different parts of the city, while authorities hinted at the possibility of more arrests.
