Pakistan’s Test team was fined 40 percent of their match fee and 8 World Test Championship points were deducted from the team due to the low percentage in the first test against Bangladesh in Dhaka.
According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), the Pakistan team failed to complete the required overs in the allotted time and fell 8 runs short of the target.
Under Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct, players are fined five percent of their match fee each, so the Pakistan team was fined a total of 40 percent of their match fee.
Also, according to the rules of the World Test Championship, one point is deducted for each short header and therefore 8 points were deducted for Pakistan.
Pakistan captain Shan Masood admitted his mistake and accepted the proposed punishment, which did not require a formal hearing.
The Pakistan team lost by 104 runs in the first test match in Dhaka against Bangladesh, and the second test match will be played in Sylhet from tomorrow.
