Pakistani fast bowler Akif Javed has been included in the squad for the Vitality Blast by English county team Derbyshire.
25-year-old left winger Akif Javid joined the team in place of Safyan Moqim, who will not be available for the opening round of the tournament due to international commitments.
Akif Javed has previously represented Rangpur Riders in the Bangladesh Premier League and Ajman Titans in the Abu Dhabi T-Ten League alongside Mickey Arthur, where he has been among the wicket-takers.
Derbyshire Cricket Chairman Mickey Arthur said Safian Moqim’s absence was disappointing, but it gave the team an opportunity to change the mix and Akif Javed was their top priority.
He said that Akif Javed is a suitable player for English conditions while his pace and left side attack will be beneficial for the team.
Akif Javed said that he is very excited to play Vitality Blast for the first time and is looking forward to working with Mickey Arthur again.
He said that he will try to give the best game to Derbyshire Falcons fans and play a role in the team’s victories.
