London:
Pakistani runners made their presence known by participating in the 46th edition of the London Marathon, one of the biggest running events in the world and attracted everyone’s attention with their excellent performance.
More than 30 athletes from Pakistan and the Pakistani community abroad participated in this global event who not only completed the competition but also left a strong impression with their fitness, strategy and endurance.
British Pakistani runner Abdullah Muhammad Athar took part in this race, who was the fastest Pakistani runner with a time of 2 hours 39 minutes and 53 seconds.
A special aspect of Athar’s walk was his balanced strategy. He controlled the pace from the start, completing the first 10 km in 39 minutes and 7 seconds and completing the half marathon in 1 hour 18 minutes and 23 seconds.
His average speed during the race ranged from 3:41 to 3:49 per kilometer, indicating a consistent and planned run.
While most runners tire in the final stages, Athar showed exceptional control to maintain his pace and finish the race in around 4 minutes per kilometer.
About his success, Athar said that running is not only a sport but also a source of discipline and peace.
He said that a year ago he used to complete 10 km in 37 minutes but now completing the whole marathon at the same speed is a big achievement for him.
