Canada T20 World Cup 2026 match under investigation by ICC Anti-Corruption Unit

The International Cricket Council’s (ICC) anti-corruption unit is investigating Cricket Canada’s match against New Zealand in the 2026 T20 World Cup.

According to the cricket website, the investigation involves a Canadian match at this year’s ICCT World Twenty20. The Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) is currently conducting two investigations, which include allegations of domestic and international violations of Cricket Canada and the Anti-Corruption Act.

According to Cricket’s website, the investigation into the match began after the release of a 43-minute documentary produced by Canada’s Corruption, Crime and Cricket Investigative Documentary Program.

The documentary details the management of Canadian cricket and allegations of corruption and the documentary highlights the dominance of the Canadian team in the match against New Zealand in the T20 World Cup.

Dilpreet Bajwa 5th on the comprehensive chart

In the documentary, when the New Zealand team was chasing the target, the 5th captain Dilpreet Bajwa was alleged to be corrupt. When all-rounder Dilpreet Bajwa started bowling, New Zealand were bowled out for 35 runs.

Dilpreet Bajwa started the innings with a no-ball, then 2 wide balls were delivered in this innings and they gave 15 runs. Dilpreet Bajwa was appointed captain three weeks before the start of the World Cup.

According to the cricket website, further investigation is being conducted into a leaked phone call, the audio of which was released last year, which is being investigated by the ACU.

Coach Khurram Chauhan claimed in a phone call that senior Cricket Canada officials pressured some players to select them, while allegations of match-fixing were also made on record.

The director general of the ICC’s integrity unit, Andrew Effgrave, said the organization was aware of the program but could not comment on matters under investigation.
