Report: Soheyl Imran. Pakistan Women Cricket Team Manager Wahab Riaz says that there is a great need to start Women T20 League, players should also get an opportunity to come out for the league, this will give a learning opportunity to women cricketers.
Speaking to Geo News in Lahore, Wahab Riaz said that it is very important to have a women’s T20 league, local players will get an opportunity to share the dressing room with foreign players in Pakistan from where they will learn a lot, the quality of cricket will also improve when Pakistani players should get an opportunity to play abroad.
Mentor Wahab Riaz believes that the home series against Zimbabwe is very important for the Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team.
He said the series against the Zimbabwe women’s cricket team is of great importance as it is part of the ICC Championship, the ODI series will provide ranking points while the T20 series will provide an opportunity to prepare for the T20 World Cup.
Wahab Riaz said that one should not think about the tough group of T20 World Cup being held in England, one should just believe in himself, T20 is such a format that any team can beat anyone.
The former speedster said that the fitness and pitch of women cricketers are areas of concern for us, so we focused on them the most.
Continuing his speech, Wahab Riaz said that first camps were built in Karachi and then in Lahore and work was done on them. The reason for the improved performance of the players is due to the improved fitness. Apart from this, the players are also strengthened mentally.
Wahab Riaz said that women cricketers get less matches than men, it is seen as a deficiency, so when they play international cricket, they cannot make decisions due to less experience of matches, the players do not believe themselves whether they will be able to do it or not.
It is worth noting that the Zimbabwe Women Cricket team is visiting Pakistan for the first time, which includes 3 ODIs and 3 T20 matches, the series will start from May 4.
