KARACHI: Kaushal Mendes, who represented Peshawar Zalmi, remained silent when asked about his decision to quit the league and join the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
After Zalmi’s win against Lahore Qalandars, when asked if he quit PSL last year due to security concerns to play for Gujarat Titans in IPL, do you regret it? Instead of responding to this, the Sri Lankan cricketers started laughing and kept quiet.
According to media reports at the time, Mendes decided not to come to Pakistan for the remaining matches of the tournament due to security concerns and focused on the IPL, where he had never played before.
He was then brought into the Gujarat Titans squad as a replacement for Jos Buttler, who was unavailable due to national commitments ahead of the ODI series against the West Indies.
Journalists also asked if he now regrets this decision, but Kaushal Mendes did not answer the question and remained silent, then Zalmi’s media manager intervened and told the journalists to limit the questions to the match.
