Sydney:
Japan defeated Australia to win the Asian Women’s Football Cup after a thrilling match, with one goal deciding the final match.
A record 74,000 fans attended the historic final played in Sydney. Japan’s decisive goal was scored in the 17th minute by Maika Himano with a beautiful long-range shot that went straight into the net.
This is Japan’s third Asian Cup title, having previously won in 2014 and 2018.
The Japanese team remained unbeaten throughout the tournament and produced a brilliant performance, scoring 29 goals and conceding just one in six matches, asserting their dominance.
Australia played well in the beginning of the match and created several chances, but missed important chances to lose the team.
This tournament was also the qualifying stage for the upcoming World Cup, where Japan, Australia and other major Asian teams qualified for the World Cup.
