The Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) has issued a statement explaining the controversial dismissal of Pakistan wicketkeeper Salman Ali Agha during the second ODI match against Bangladesh at the Sher Bangla Stadium.
According to the MCC, Salman Ali Agha was clearly ruled out as he was outside the crease and the ball was in play at the time.
The MCC statement said that no batsman should attempt to lift the ball without the permission of the fielding side.
The MCC further clarified that a collision between the players does not automatically make the ball dead and therefore the play is considered to be in progress.
The MCC also said that in the spirit of cricket, Bangladesh could have withdrawn their appeal, but as per the rules, the on-field umpires had no choice but to dismiss Salman Agha.
It is worth remembering that in the match played in Dhaka, Bangladesh captain Mehdi Hasan Miraz had run out of Salman Ali Akha at the end of the over, and the Pakistani batsman reacted strongly on the field.
In the 39th match against Bangladesh, Salman Ali Akha scored 64 runs and 62 balls, while Muhammad Rizwan played the ball directly, meanwhile Akha was outside the bowler and wanted to give the ball to the player, but Mehdi Hasan forgot his sportsmanship and immediately picked up the ball and gave it to him.
While returning to the pavilion, Salman Ali Akha expressed his anger on which the Bangladeshi defender Latin Das also appeared angry, but Muhammad Rizwan, the referee and his fellow players understood him and calmed his anger.
It is worth mentioning that Salman Ali Axa was fined one point and 50% of the match fee by the ICC for his aggressive style.
