Former Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed has announced his retirement from International Cricket.
Sarfaraz Ahmed played 54 Tests, 117 One Day Internationals and 61 T20 Internationals for Pakistan. He scored a total of 6164 runs in his career and took 315 catches and 56 wickets behind the wickets of Sarfaraz Ahmed.
Sarfraz Ahmed led Pakistan in 100 international matches. Under his leadership, the Pakistan team won the ICC Champions Trophy 2017.
Under the captaincy of Sarfaraz Ahmed, the Pakistan team reached the number one ranking in the world in T20 international cricket.
Sarfaraz Ahmed is the only Pakistan captain to have won ICC titles at both junior and senior levels. The Government of Pakistan awarded Pride of Performance in 2018.
Sarfraz Ahmed says that representing Pakistan was the greatest honor of my life, winning the U-19 World Cup in 2006 and the Champions Trophy in 2017 are memorable moments of my career.
He says he is very grateful for the support of fellow players, coaches, family and fans. It has been a dream for me to lead the Pakistan team in all three formats, I have always tried to play fearless cricket and build a united team.
Sarfraz Ahmed says that seeing match winners like Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Hasan Ali, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Shadab Khan is a source of pride for me, the trust and support of Pakistan Cricket Board will always be remembered.
He also said that Pakistan cricket will always be close to my heart and I will serve the game in any way possible.
