Power hitting records were broken in the T20 World Cup, with a total of 780 sixes being hit in the tournament.
This is almost 51% more than the 517 sixes hit in the 2024 edition, re-opening the debate on the balance between bat and ball.
The target of 200 runs was crossed a record 14 times in the tournament.
In the final against New Zealand, India set a new record for scoring in T20 cricket by scoring 255 runs, 3 of the 250-plus totals were scored by the hosts, with a collective strike rate of 134 during the tournament, the highest in the history of the event.
Commenting on the situation, former England captain Michael Vaughan said that there was great batting but the balance between bat and ball was not maintained.
On the other hand, New Zealand coach Rob Walter said that if the fans enjoy this style of cricket, there is no need to complain about it, but equal competition is also important in the game.
