In the T20 World Cup final, India defeated New Zealand by 96 runs and successfully defended the T20 title. Team India became the first team to win the T20 World Cup at home.
In the final played in Ahmedabad, the New Zealand team was bowled out for 256 runs by 159 runs in 19 overs.
Tim Seifert scored 52 runs for the Kiwis. Captain Mitchell Santner 43, Daryl Mitchell 17, Finn Allen 9, James Neesham 8, Glenn Phillips 5, Jacob Duffy 3, Mark Champion 3, Richin Ravindra 1 and Matt Henry 0 were all dismissed.
Jasprit Bumrah bowled 4 bowlers and Akshar Patel bowled 3 bowlers for India. Abhishek Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Varun Chakraborty took 1 wicket each.
Earlier, at the invitation of New Zealand, India scored 255 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the allotted innings.
Sanju Samson scored 89 runs for India. Ishan Kishan 54, Abhishek Sharma 52, Hardik Pandya 18 and captain Surya Kumar Yadav made 0 individual scores.
Shivam Dubey scored 26 and Tilak Verma also scored 8 runs to return to the Karnaught pavilion.
James Neesham dismissed 3 players for New Zealand. Richin Ravindra took 1 wicket.
