In the T20 World Cup, India reached the final after defeating England by 7 runs

In the second semi-final of ICCT Twenty20 World Cup 2026, India made it to the final for the second time in a row, losing by just 7 runs after a thrilling contest.

In this semi-final played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, England won the match and invited India to advance.

Batting first, defending champions and home team India scored 253 runs for 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Opener Sanju Samson played 42 balls with 89 runs, Shom Dubey scored 43, Ishan Kishan scored 39, Hardik Pandya scored 27, Tilak Verma scored 21 and Surya Kumar Yadav scored 11.

All the England bowlers were expensive, however, according to the wicket column, Adil Rashid and Will Jacks took two wickets each, Jofra Archer took one wicket.

It is worth remembering that in the first semi-final match, New Zealand defeated South Africa by 9 wickets and reached the final.

In pursuit of the target, England’s experienced players failed to show enough performance, however, young Jacob Bethel tried hard to make the target of 254 runs easy for his team.

Bethel returned to the pavilion after scoring 105 runs in the last over. Will Jacks 35 Jos Buttler 25 were other famous batsmen.

Almost all the bowlers were costed by the Indian run as well, but Hardik Pandya took 2 wickets while Bumrah, Arsdeep, Varun Chakraborty and Akshar Patel took one wicket each.

Sanju Samson was adjudged Man of the Match for his brilliant performances.

It is worth mentioning that India has reached the final of the T20 World Cup for the second time in a row, while Pakistan and Sri Lanka have the honor of reaching the final twice in a row.

The final of the tournament will be played between India and New Zealand at the Modi Stadium Ahmedabad on March 8.
