T20 World Cup: New Zealand reach final after beating South Africa

In the first semi-final match of the ICCT 20 World Cup, New Zealand advanced to the final after defeating South Africa by 9 wickets.

In the match played in Kolkata, New Zealand scored 170 runs in just 43 balls before losing 1 wicket to South Africa.

New Zealand opener Finn Allen scored an unbeaten century off 33 balls, his innings punctuated by 10 fours and 8 sixes.

Tim Seifert was the only batsman out for the Kiwi side who returned to the pavilion after scoring 58 while Rachin Ravindra remained unbeaten on 13 runs.

Earlier, the Proteas scored 169 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 separate overs while batting first.

Batting in the bottom order, Marko Jansen proved to be the man of the moment for the team and played an unbeaten 55 innings.

Along with him, Dewald Brews became the second leading batsman scoring 34 runs while Tristan Stubbs played 29 runs.

South Africa’s top order suffered a crushing defeat against New Zealand, with captain Adam Markram 18, Quinton de Kock 10, David Miller 6 and Ryan Rickleton all out for no runs.

For New Zealand, Cole McConkey, Matt Henry and Rachin Ravindra took two wickets each, while Lockie Ferguson and Jimmy Neesham took a wicket each.

It is worth remembering that the New Zealand team from Group 2 and the South African team from Group 1 went to the semi-finals.
