Pakistan Cricket team’s Champions Trophy winning former captain Sarfraz Ahmed is set to become the coach of the national Test Cricket team.
According to media sources, the official announcement of Sarfraz Ahmed’s appointment by the PCB will be made soon, he will probably start the responsibilities in Pakistan’s Test series with Bangladesh.
It is to be noted that with the post of Pakistan Test team coach vacant due to Australia’s Jason Gillespie’s resignation, Azhar Mahmood has been appointed as the caretaker coach for the series against South Africa.
The Pakistan team will play a 2-Test series against Bangladesh in May, this Test series is a part of the 2027 World Test Championship.
The first Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh will start from May 8 and the second from May 16.
Earlier, Sarfraz Ahmed was appointed as the consultant of Pakistan’s U-19 team, under whose leadership the team won the Asia Cup, and Sarfraz Ahmed was appointed as the consultant of the recent U-19 World Cup.
