In the ICCT Twenty20 World Cup 2026, India kept alive their hopes of reaching the semi-finals by defeating Zimbabwe by a huge margin.
In the most important Super Eight Group 1 match played in Chennai, Zimbabwe won the toss and invited India to bat first. Batting first, India scored 256 runs for 4 wickets.
All the Indian batsmen scored at lightning speed. Abhishek Sharma scored 55 runs, Hardik Pandya scored 50 runs, Tilak Verma scored 44 runs, Ishan Kishan scored 38 runs, captain Surya Kumar Yadav scored 33 runs and Sanju Samson scored 24 runs.
On behalf of Zimbabwe, captain Sikandar Raza, Mapusa, Muzarabani and Ngwara each dropped out.
After the target, Zimbabwe’s batting line collapsed under a mountain of targets. However, Zimbabwe opening batsman Brian Bennett played an unbeaten innings of 97 runs without bothering.
Apart from them, Sikandar Raza scored 31 runs and Marumani scored 20 runs. India’s Arsdeep Singh dismissed 3 bowlers while Shom Dubey, Akshar Patel and Varun Chakraborty took a wicket each.
India’s Hardik Pandya was man of the match.
With this victory, India’s hopes of reaching the semi-finals are still healthy, their next match is against West Indies, the win of this match will advance them to the semi-finals.
