Pakistan’s Hockey team went to Egypt for the World Cup, where the tournament will be played in Ismaili.
Under the leadership of Imad Shakeel Butt, the Pakistan Hockey Team consisted of Muneebur Rahman, Ali Raza (Goalkeeper), Muhammad Sufyan Khan, Ghazanfer Ali, Ahmed Nadeem, Moeen Shakeel, Muhammad Abdullah, Muhammad Hamaduddin Anjum, Rana Abdul Waheed Raza, Mahmood Ashraf, Ashraf Ashraf, Ashraf Ashraf, Mahmud Ashraf Ashraf, Mahmud Ashraf Bakr. Feyyaz, Zakariya Hayat, Arshad Liaquat, Rana Muhammad Waleed, Ashrafaz Ahmed, Muhammad Hammad and Umeer Sattar.
It is worth mentioning that the Hockey World Cup will be held in Germany and Holland this year. World champion Charbar Team Pakistan in pool B with Austria, Malaysia and China in pool B with Egypt, England, Japan and USA. The first match of the Pakistan team will be against China on March 1, the second match against Malaysia the next day and the third match against Austria on March 4.
Before leaving for Egypt, captain Imad Butt said that the players sent with better opportunities should show better performance in the show. Head coach Khawaja Junaid is hopeful for better results.
He said that forgetting the past and focusing on the future, the nation should pray for a good performance. Pakistan won the Hockey World Cup against Spain in 1971, Argentina in 1978, India in 1982 and lastly in Australia in 1994 under the leadership of Barshahbaz Sr.
