In the Super Eight stage match of the T20 World Cup 2026, England beat Pakistan by 2 wickets thanks to a match-winning century by captain Harry Brooke.

In this crucial Super Eight Group 2 match played at Palikele, Pakistan won and decided to break first against England and batted first with a total of 164 on the board.

Pakistani openers Saeem Ayub and Sahibzada Farhan started cautiously, but the first wicket fell for 14 runs as Saeem Ayub was caught by Jofra Archer after scoring 7 runs.

Similarly, captain Salman Ali Agha could not play much, he was caught for 27 off Liam Dawson after scoring 5 runs.

Babar Azam carefully led the team batting to 73 runs with Sahibzada Farhan, where Babar Azam was bowled by Overton, he played 25 runs from 24 balls.

Another batsman Fakhar Zaman increased the scoring rate with Farhan and meanwhile Sahibzada Farhan completed his half century. However, with a total of 122, Farhan was dismissed by Overton.

The next player to come out was Fakher Zeman, he scored 24 runs off 16 balls, caught by Adil Rashid.

Pakistan’s sixth and seventh wickets totaled 146 and the eighth was 149 as Usman Khan (8), Muhammad Nawaz (0) and Shaheen Afridi (2) were dismissed.

In the final moments, Shadab Khan played a thunderous 23 runs and took the team to a total of 164 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs.

Liam Dawson dismissed 3 wickets for England, Jofra Archer and Jamie Overton took 2 wickets each and Adil Rashid took one wicket.

In pursuit of the target, England’s three opening batsmen failed, and the trio of Phil Salt, Jos Buttler and Jacob Bethel were sent to the pavilion for a total of 35 by Shaheen Afridi.

However, England captain Harry Brooke scripted the match with his century at the other end of the wicket. He turned the tide of the match in his favor by scoring 100 runs off 51 smoke balls.

England scored 165 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the last over.
