In the Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup 2026, West Indies defeated Zimbabwe by a huge margin of 107 runs.

In the match played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Zimbabwe won and invited the West Indies to bat first.

Batting first, West Indies hit six fours and set Zimbabwe a target of 255 runs to win.

The two world champions started slowly, but Shimron Hatmise and Romain Powell dashed Zimbabwe’s hopes.

The duo started a lightning-quick scoring run that was continued by other incoming players. Hetmyer scored 85 and Powell scored 59 runs, both hitting a total of 11 sixes and 11 fours.

In the closing moments, Sherfin Rutherford scored 31 runs, Shepherd 21 runs and Holder 13 runs to take the team’s total to 254 runs in the allotted 20 overs.

Note that this is the second highest total in T20 World Cup history.

For Zimbabwe, Muzarbani and Angrava took two wickets each, while Brad Evans and Kramer took one each.

Zimbabwe’s batting line-up collapsed like a house of cards after a target like a mountain, the batsmen returning to the pavilion one after the other after defeating strong teams like Australia and Sri Lanka.

Brad Evans, Zimbabwe’s 9th highest scorer scored 43 runs.

On behalf of West Indies, spinner Gadakesh Moti struck 4 and Akil Hussain dismissed 3 bowlers to deal a blow to Zimbabwe’s batting line-up.

In the match played yesterday in the same group, South Africa defeated India after a one-sided match.
