In the crucial match of the T20 World Cup, Sri Lanka easily defeated Australia by 8 wickets to advance to the Super Eight.
After this defeat, Australia is on the brink of elimination from the first round of the T20 World Cup 2026.

Marcus Stoins managed to take 2 wickets for Australia. With this defeat, Australia is approaching the first round of the World Cup.
In the same group, if the winner of the match between Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe is Zimbabwe or the match is tied, Australia will be out of the competition and Zimbabwe will be qualified for the Super Eight.
However, Zimbabwe will not be out of the World Cup even in defeat, but their progress to the Super Eight stage will depend on their form following Australia’s win over Oman by a wide margin.
