In the T20 World Cup, after Nepal, Italy also met England. Despite making a total of over 200, England could only win the match by 24 runs.

In this Group C match played in Kolkata, England, they won the match and decided to bat first.

England put a total of 202 runs on the board with all their players involved. Salt 28, Bethel 23, Beaton 30, Sam Curran 25, Overton 15 and Harry Brooke 14 scored as Will Jacks played a smokey 53 in the final moments.

For Italy, Grant Stewart and Krishan Klugmage took two wickets each, while Ben Menanti, JJ Smits and Ali Hasan took one each.

Italy did not start well in pursuit of the goal, but Justin Mosca’s 43, Grant Stewart’s 45 and Grant Mananti’s 60 made this match memorable for Italy.

However, England used their experience and bowled out Italy by 178 runs in the last over to win the match by 24 runs and advance to the Super Eight stage.

On behalf of England, Jamie Overton and Sam Curran took three wickets each, Jofra Archer took two wickets, Will Jacks and Adil Rasheed took one wicket each.

England’s Will Jacks was adjudged the man of the match for his outstanding batting performance.
