England defeated Nepal by 4 runs in the fifth match of ICCT World Twenty20.
In the T20 World Cup match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, England were bowled out by 184 runs for 7 wickets and Nepal scored 185 runs to win.
From England Jacob Bethel scored 55 and captain Harry Brooke scored 53 runs, from Nepal Deepandra Singh and Nandan Yadav scored 2 goals each.
In reply, the Nepalese team scored 180 runs for 6 wickets.
Rohit Paudel and Deepinder Singh Irey sensationalized the match by forming a crucial partnership of 82 runs against England, Deependra Singh Irey was the highlight with 44 runs.
Both the batsmen played big shots and put Nepal in a strong position especially with the attacking batting of Adil Rashid.
However, Deepinder Singh Airey was caught at Sam Karan’s catch, while Rohit Paudel was caught at Liam Dawson’s delivery soon after. With the fall of these two wickets, Nepal came under intense pressure.
In the final overs of the match, Nepal needed more runs in little time, but the new batting pair could not reach the target.
Note that Nepal will play all 4 of their group matches at the Wankhede, which will be supported by thousands of Nepali fans in Mumbai as well.
Captain Paudel said that playing in Asian conditions is always helpful for Nepal.
On the other hand, in another match, New Zealand defeated Afghanistan by 5 wickets.
