Sri Lanka has asked Pakistan to reconsider its decision to boycott the match against India in the T20 World Cup.

According to international media reports, Sri Lanka Cricket has formally requested the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to reconsider its decision to boycott the match against India in the T20 World Cup 2026.

According to the report, Sri Lanka Cricket has written a letter to the PCB informing that Sri Lanka may face a huge financial loss if the high profile match between Pakistan and India is called off.

The Sri Lankan board says that the match is not only very important commercially, but also an expected income in terms of tourism.

Sri Lanka Cricket urged the PCB to consider the long-term relationship between the two boards, the circumstances and the wider interest of cricket.

This development comes after the Pakistan government’s decision to ban the national team from playing against India.

On the other hand, the Indian media says that the ICC has started behind-the-scenes communications to resolve the issue.

According to Indian media reports, ICC Vice President Imran Khawaja has been assigned the role of negotiating and mediating with the PCB.

It is worth remembering that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif defended the government’s decision in his speech at the federal cabinet a day ago and said that the decision not to play with India was made deliberately.
