The International Cricket Council (ICC) was shocked by Pakistan’s decision to boycott the match against India in the T20 World Cup 2026 and started recalling the rules of the game.

A statement was made by the ICC and it was said that the ICC is waiting for the official decision of the Pakistan Cricket Board.

The statement said Pakistan will participate in event-specific matches, a position that is difficult to reconcile with the premise of a global sporting event where all teams are expected to compete on equal terms as per the event schedule.

The ICC said the tournaments are based on sporting integrity, competition, consistency and fairness and participation in some matches undermines the effectiveness of the competitions.

The International Cricket Council also said in its statement that they respect the role of governments in matters of national politics.

ICC also said that this decision is not in the interest of millions of Pakistani fans around the world, this decision may affect the international cricket system.

The ICC’s priority is the successful management of the Men’s T20 World Cup, which should be the responsibility of all its members, including the PCB, the statement said.

The ICC hoped that Pakistan would seek a solution that would protect the interests of all parties involved.
