EDINBURGH: With new head coach Owen Dawkins at the helm and under the captaincy of Richie Berrington, Scotland have named their squad for their seventh appearance in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

Scotland replaced Bangladesh in the global competition hosted jointly by India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8. Bangladesh has refused to play its World Cup matches in India due to security concerns and political tensions between New Delhi and Dhaka.

The European team also participated in the inaugural edition of the tournament organized in 2007 in South Africa.

Zainullah Ihsan is a first call-up, with the Afghan-born fast bowler having recently qualified to play for Scotland.

Also in the running is former New Zealand international Tom Bruce, who will strengthen his batting line-up. Bruce, 34, featured in 17 T20 international matches for the Black Caps before switching allegiance to Scotland.

Team: Richie Berrington (captain), Tom Bruce, Matthew Cross, Bradley Currie, Oliver Davidson, Chris Greaves, Zainullah Ihsan, Michael Jones, Michael Leask, Finlay McCreath, Brandon McMullen, George Munsey, Safyaan Sharif, Mark Watt, Bradley Wheal.

Traveling Reserves: Jasper Davidson, Jack Jarvis

Non-traveling reserves: Mackenzie Jones, Chris McBride, Charlie Tear.
