A serious situation has emerged between Pakistan and Bangladesh regarding the T20 World Cup 2026, where the stance of both countries has forced the cricket authorities to make a difficult choice.

The Bangladesh government and the cricket board announced that they would not play matches in India and took a strong stand against the Indian team not going due to security concerns.

Bangladesh have made a formal request to the International Cricket Council (ICC) to shift their matches to Sri Lanka or another safe location. Behind the tension is Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman’s dismissal from the IPL, after the BCB and the government took a tough stand.

Pakistan assured full support to Bangladesh in this matter and said that no country is allowed to pressure or intimidate another country.

Pakistani sources say that if the Bangladesh issue is not resolved, Pakistan may reconsider its participation in the T20 World Cup, and this shows the seriousness of the issue.

The ICC is also trying hard to manage the situation and in this regard, a discussion is being held with the officials of the Bangladesh Cricket Board so that the problems are resolved and the hosting of the World Cup is not affected.

This situation not only affects the cricket schedule but also affects the political and diplomatic relations of the region as the World Cup is less than a few weeks away and the tournament is scheduled to start from February 7 in India and Sri Lanka.

Although the ICC has reviewed security issues, the Bangladesh team’s position remains intact and future decisions require joint consultation between the board and the ICC to prevent potential disruption to the World Cup schedule.
