The players of Ashes series winning team Australia will now be seen in action in the Big Bash League (BBL).

Cricket Australia has confirmed that Ashes-winning Australian Test players will begin a phased return to the Big Bash League from Saturday.

Travis Head will miss the Big Bash for the third time in a row. According to Cricket Australia, Head is fully fit and refreshed for next month’s T20 World Cup. Similarly, Cameron Green, who is out of Big Bash contract, will not feature in the tournament.

Usman Khawaja and Marnes Laboshin will be the first Test stars to return to the Big Bash after their 4-1 Ashes victory, representing the Brisbane Heat on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Brendan Doggett, who joined the Melbourne Renegades from the Adelaide Strikers in the off-season, will make his Melbourne debut at Marvel Stadium on Saturday night.

Sydney Sixers superstar Steve Smith will be available for Sunday’s match against Hobart, along with spinner Todd Murphy.

Mitchell Starc, who won the man of the match award in the Ashes series, has been given an extra rest and will return to action in the Big Bash next Friday.

Brisbane Heat midfielder Michael Naser will be available from Wednesday, while Alex Carey (Adelaide Strikers) and Josh Ingles (Perth Scorchers) will clash at Adelaide Oval on Sunday night.

On the other hand, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood are unlikely to feature in the Big Bash due to injury issues as they focus on preparing for the T20 World Cup.

Australian spinner Adam Zampa will miss the fourth consecutive match for the Renegades due to a neck injury.

According to Cricket Australia General Manager Ben Oliver, “We have worked with each player on individual plans to ensure optimal recovery after the Ashes and preparation for future international duties.

However, Australian spinner Adam Zampa will miss his fourth consecutive match for the Renegades due to a neck injury. The available T20 World Cup squad players will go into the tournament after playing the remaining Big Bash matches and finals.
