Report: Soheyl Imran. Bangladesh have refused to travel to India for next month’s ICCT Twenty20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka, citing insecurity.

In this regard, BCB sources say that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) received an e-mail from the International Cricket Council (ICC) late last night.

According to BCB sources, the ICC in its email asked Bangladesh about the security concerns regarding the tournament.

According to BCB sources, it was the ICC’s response email that BCB sent on Sunday in which BCB requested not to travel to India for the T20 World Cup and shift the matches outside India due to security concerns.

BCB sources say the ICC has inquired about the nature of the security concerns and their details and the BCB will give a detailed reply to the ICC today.

BCB sources also said that there was no virtual call with BCB and BCB was told not to collect points in case of non-Indians.

It is worth mentioning that yesterday the Director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, Asif Akbar, made a categorical statement about not sending the team to India for the Twenty ICCT World Cup and said that we will not go to India for the World Cup under any circumstances.

Asif Akbar took a strong stand regarding India and said that we have decided not to go to India because we are not safe there.

Earlier, following extremist threats in India, IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders dropped Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from the team on the instructions of the Indian Cricket Board.

It is worth recalling that in the ICCT World Twenty20, Bangladesh was placed in Group C with England, West Indies, Nepal and Italy.
