Australia’s experienced opener Usman Khawaja has announced his retirement from international Test cricket, the next Test of the Ashes series will be the last match of his career.

In a press conference today at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Usman Khawaja announced that the final Test of the Ashes series will be the last match and the 88th Test of his career.

Usman Khawaja has said he will continue to play for Brisbane Heat in the BBL and remain for the Queensland Sheffield Shield.

Usman Xewace said, “I want people to remember me as a humble player who enjoyed the game and made the fans happy.”

Born in Islamabad, Usman Khawaja moved to Sydney at a young age. He made his first-class debut in 2008 and his Test debut in 2011.

Khawaja, who scored 16 Test cricket centuries, is among 18 Australian batsmen to score more than 15 Test centuries. He also played 49 matches in limited overs, including 40 ODIs and 9 T20Is.
