India’s legendary batsman Virat Kohli broke former Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara’s record and won another honor in international cricket with a brilliant batting performance in the first match of the series against New Zealand.

In the first match of the series played in Vidodara, New Zealand batted first and posted 301 runs to win the Indian opener and opener Rohit Sharma was dismissed for 26 runs, but Shibman Gill and Virat Kohli decided to give the team victory thanks to half-centuries.

India beat New Zealand easily by 4 wickets and Virat Kohli was named Man of the Match.

Virat Kohli scored 93 runs off 91 balls, which included 8 fours and a six, but in the process, he surpassed former Sri Lanka captain Sangakkara to become the highest scorer in international cricket.

Before the match against New Zealand, Kohli was the third highest scorer in international cricket with 27,975 runs, but was second after scoring 93 runs.
