The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) clarified about the incident that happened during the 2026 ICC U-19 World Cup.

Ahead of the ICC U-19 World Cup match in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, the captains of the Bangladesh and India teams did not shake hands during the toss, but the Bangladesh Cricket Board issued an explanation about this.

According to BCB, regular team captain Azizul Haq could not join the team due to illness, then vice-captain Jawad Abrar represented the team.

The panel made it clear that not shaking hands with the Indian captain was not intentional and was just the result of a momentary indiscretion.

In the statement, it was said that this action is in no way intended to insult the rival team. BCB took the matter seriously and immediately informed the team management and reminded the players that spirit of the game, sportsmanship and mutual respect are prerequisites for representing Bangladesh at any level.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board has reiterated its commitment to fully uphold the values and traditions of cricket on and off the field.
