“We need a good start both in batting and bowling, there is room for improvement in every aspect of the game,” said Hyderabad Kingsmen captain Marinus Labushin.
The Australian star, who joined the Pakistan Super League for the first time, told ‘Express Digital’ in an exclusive interview that it was a great experience.
Marinus Labushin said: “Hyderabad Kingsmen is a new team, it is very nice to get to know all the players and continue the journey together, I just know the players’ style of play better, this process is very interesting for me, this season will be very interesting for our team.”
“The first 2 matches didn’t go according to plan for us but there are a lot of positives, as we progress in the event the performance will improve, the main thing for us is to build confidence and understand each other’s game,” he said.
“We need a good start both in batting and bowling, when we put ourselves in a strong position and put pressure on the opposition team, we will be in a better position to win the match, we have to work hard and prepare properly, and play with confidence on the field,” said the captain.
Asked about the weaknesses of the bowling, Labushin said, “We are not at our best in the first two matches, not only bowling but in every area of our game there is room for improvement.”
Labushin said that there are many challenges in the first experience of PSL captaincy, the most important thing is to understand the players, recognize their abilities and help them on the field, PSL is a great opportunity to meet and learn from players from different countries.
Moaz and Saeem Ayub need to be convinced to play better
Asked about Saeem Ayub’s form, Labushin said that it is too early to talk about it, in short cricket any player can fail in few innings, then he performs well in the next matches.
The captain also said that we are not talking about the lack of performance, but we are focusing on who is playing good cricket, we could not be fully consistent as a team in the early matches, none of the batsmen have played big innings so far, that is why we are in this position, hopefully we can all perform well together and make a good score.
He said that we have 2 best young opening batsmen of Pakistan Moaz Sadaqat and Saeem Ayub in our team, we have to give them confidence to play better, rest can take advantage of their good performance and put pressure on opponent.
“I only saw Moaz in practice and one match, he looks like a good player, I’m happy to see him perform well,” Labushin added.

Regarding the absence of fans, Labushin said that when there is no crowd, the atmosphere of the match decreases a bit, but it makes communication and strategy easier among the team.

Having previously toured Pakistan with the Australian team, Labushin said the recent experience feels almost like the past, we spend a lot of time in hotels, security is always very good in Pakistan.
He said the atmosphere reflected the presence of many Australian players in the league, overall my experience was very positive.
“I love Pakistani food, especially chicken kadahi, paratha and naan,” said Labushin.
He said that many Pakistani cricketers are my favorite players, Babar Azam is always a world class player, very interesting to talk to him about the game and learn from his experiences.
