The younger brother of Zimbabwe cricket team captain Sikandar Raza has passed away.
Zimbabwe Cricket says Sikandar Raza’s younger brother, 13-year-old Muhammad Mehdi, who suffered from a rare blood disorder called hemophilia, died on December 29 of recent medical complications.
He was buried on December 30 in the capital, Harare.
Zimbabwe Cricket has expressed its deepest condolences to national T20 captain Sikander Raza and his family on the death of his younger brother Muhammad Mehdi.
It is worth mentioning that Sikandar Raza has also represented Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), he came on a few minutes before the match in the PSL 10 final.
In May 2025, Sikandar Raza left the team before the play-offs and left for England on national duty, playing his only Test match representing the national team in Nottingham.
And the next day for the Pakistan Super League final, he arrived at the Gaddafi Stadium moments before kick-off and joined the team.
Sikandar Raza has been representing Zimbabwe in international cricket since 2013. He is considered the mainstay of the team due to his consistency, leadership skills and all-round performance.
In 2025, he also managed to secure the number one position in the ICCT Twenty All Rounder Ranking.
The Zimbabwe team is busy preparing for the T20 World Cup 2026. Under the captaincy of Sikandar Raza, the team recently achieved a historic T20 win against Sri Lanka.
Zimbabwe have been drawn in a group with Australia, Ireland and Oman and the team will play their first match on February 9 against Oman.
