Important developments regarding the semi-finals of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 have emerged.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has made it clear that if Sri Lanka reach the semi-finals, they can play their match at home under certain conditions.
According to ICC, the decision of semi-final 1 place will depend on the quality of the teams.
If Pakistan make it to the semi-finals, they will play at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on March 4.
However, if Pakistan fails to win and Sri Lanka reach the semi-finals and face any team other than India, then this match will also be played in Colombo.
If both Pakistan and Sri Lanka do not advance to the semi-finals, the first semi-final will be played in Kolkata and the second in Mumbai.
If India reach the semi-finals, they will play in Mumbai, but if they face Pakistan, the match will be played in Colombo.
In what appears to be a change in the original ICC schedule announcement and playing conditions of the tournament, Sri Lanka can play a game. #T20WorldCup If they win the semi-final at home and not Pakistan.

Note that Sri Lanka and Pakistan are in Group 2 of the Super Eight, so a semi-final between the two is not possible.
The ICC announcement is considered to be a clarification or change to the ongoing schedule for the month of November.
