Sri Lanka suffered a major setback in the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, with star all-rounder Vinandu Hasaranga ruled out of the tournament due to a groin injury.
Hasaranga was injured in Sunday’s match against Ireland in Colombo, where he had a brilliant performance and took 3 wickets to play a vital role in the hosts’ victory.
Dushan Hemantha has replaced Vinandu Hasaranga, as confirmed by the Event Technical Committee (ETC), in the Sri Lanka squad.
Hemantha has played three T20Is for Sri Lanka so far and made his debut against Zimbabwe last year.
The Sri Lankan team will play their next match against Oman on Thursday, February 12, where they will set their sights on the Super Eight stage.
