In the first semi-final of the T20 World Cup, South Africa set New Zealand a target of 170 runs to win.
Invited by New Zealand, South Africa batted first and lost 169 runs for 8 wickets in the first knockout match at Eden Gardens.
Marko Jensen stood out for the Proteas with a smokey 55 not out. Dewald Brews 34, Tristan Stubbs 29, captain Aiden Markram 18, Quinton de Kock 10, David Miller 6, Corbin Bosh 2 while Ryan Rickleton and Kagiso Rabada were out for no runs.
For New Zealand, Richin Ravinder, Matt Henry and Cole McConkey took 2 wickets each. Lockie Ferguson and James Neesham took 1, 1 wicket.
