T20 World Cup, Ireland react to possible group change from Bangladesh

Cricket Ireland has reacted to the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) group change in the 2026 T20 World Cup.

Cricket Ireland has ruled out the possibility of changing its squad for the ICCT20 World Cup.

Media reports have claimed that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has asked the ICC to replace the squad from Ireland.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board and ICC officials held a meeting in Dhaka today, following which BCB continued its decision not to go to India.

During the meeting, Bangladesh asked Ireland to change the group to play all the matches in Sri Lanka.

Speaking to the Cricket website, Cricket Ireland said in its statement about not moving its matches and said that we have confirmed that we will not move anywhere according to the previous schedule.

Cricket Ireland officials say we are definitely playing group matches in Sri Lanka.

Ireland are in Group C along with Sri Lanka, Australia, Zimbabwe and Oman, in Group B Bangladesh have 3 matches in Kolkata and 1 in Mumbai, their matches are against West Indies, England, Nepal and Italy.

In its statement, BCB mentioned the possibility of changing the Bangladesh team.
