Ireland beat Oman by 96 runs in ICCT Twenty20 World Cup Group B match.
It should be noted that the Irish batsmen scored the highest score of 235 in the current T20 World Cup.
In the match played in Colombo, Oman won and decided to bowl first which turned out to be a nightmare for them, the Irish team scored 235 runs for the loss of 5 wickets.
At the start of the innings, Ireland’s four bowlers returned to the pavilion for 64 runs, but after four wickets fell, captain Lorcan Tucker and Gareth Delany put on a partnership of 101 runs, playing around short wicket, Delany out for 56 runs.
Captain Lorcan Tucker remained unbeaten on 94 with 4 sixes and 10 fours, while George Dockrell made 235 for 5 with 35 off 9 balls with 5 sixes.
The Omani team chased down the target of 236 runs and won 139 runs and came in 18th place. Opener Aamir Kaleem scored 50 runs and Hammad Mirza scored 46 runs to become Oman’s leading batsman.
For Ireland, Josh Little dismissed 3 wickets, while Matthew Humphreys and Barry McCarthy took 2 each and George Dockrell took one wicket.
The next match of this match today will be played between England and Scotland at Eden Gardens and in the evening New Zealand and South Africa will meet in Ahmedabad.
