The International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to include Scotland in the T20 World Cup instead of Bangladesh.
According to Indian media reports, after the Bangladesh team refused to play in India, the ICC has given Scotland a place in the T20 World Cup 2026.
This decision comes at a time when, a few days ago, the ICC had given 24 hours to the Bangladesh Cricket Council, but the issues were not resolved within the stipulated time and finally the ICC took the final step.
According to sources, the ICC president has informed the ICC board in writing on Saturday morning that Bangladesh’s demands are not in accordance with ICC policy.
He said that Bangladesh failed to comply with the decision of the ICC board, on the basis of which it was decided to allow Scotland to participate in the tournament.
The letter was also sent to Bangladesh Cricket Board president Aminul Islam, who is a member of the ICC board.
Also, an official invitation has been sent to Cricket Scotland by the ICC, but there was no immediate response from the Chief Executive of Cricket Scotland.
Sources say the Scots have been given an opportunity based on their performance in recent ICC events and their current world ranking (14th).
In the 2024 World Cup, Scotland finished third in Group B, in 2021 Scotland surprised everyone by beating Bangladesh.
