Babar Azam is the top scorer with the lowest strike rate in the T20 World Cup.
In the T20 World Cup 2026, Babar Azam’s practice session and batting with a different mindset in the match sparked a debate.
During the net session, he played Naseem Shah’s short ball over the midwicket, while Salman Mirza hit a short uppercut delivery outside the stumps with great power.
Against the leg of Shadab Khan and Abrar Ahmed, it was seen that he was playing shots with his legs.
However, once, he mistakenly shot Naseem’s leg and got angry with himself.
This 20 to 25 minute session shows two sides of Babar Azam.
On the one hand, the attacking intent was visible, on the other hand, there was no net flow in any match and the same balls were played carefully in the match.
Babar Azam, who is playing his fourth T20 World Cup, does not have the statistics in his favour.
Babar Azam’s strike rate is 111.81 among those who have scored at least 500 runs in the T20 World Cup, which is the lowest and equal to the strike rate of former captain Muhammad Hafeez.

Captain Salman Agha and coach Mike Hesson are confident based on experience, but now Babar has to respond with on-field performance.
