Super Eight stage: India’s humiliating defeat to South Africa

South Africa defeated India by 76 runs in the third match of the Super Eight.

In the 43rd innings of the tournament played in Ahmedabad, the Indian team won by 111 runs to 188 runs in the 19th over.

Shivam Dobe stood up for India with 42 runs. Hardik Pandya 18, skipper Surya Kumar Yadav 18, Abhishek Sharma 15, Washington Sundar 11, Tilak Verma 1, Arsdeep Singh 1, Rinko Singh 0, Ishan Kishan 0 and Jasprit Bumrah 0 were the individual scorers.

On behalf of South Africa, Marco Jensen took 4 wickets, Kishore Maharaj 3 wickets, Corbin Bush 2 wickets and Aiden Markram 1 wicket.

Earlier, winning the tournament for the first time, South Africa scored 187 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted overs.

David Miller scored 63 runs for the Proteas. Devald Brews 45, Ryan Rickleton 7, Quinton de Kock 6, captain Aiden Markram 4 and Marco Jensen 2 dismissed.

Tristan Stubbs returned to the pavilion not out scoring 44 runs.

For India, Jasprit Bumrah got 3 wickets and Arsdeep Singh got 2 wickets. Varun Chakraborty and Shivam Dubey took 1 wicket each.
