The Confederation of African Football (CAF) withdrew the African championship from Senegal with an important decision.
According to a statement issued by CAF, Morocco has been declared the winner of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
It is worth remembering that in the controversial final that was played on January 19, Senegal defeated Morocco 1-0, but during the match, the Senegalese team left the field to insult the referee and because of that the game was stopped for about 14 minutes.
Morocco then lodged an official appeal against the match situation with the Confederation of African Football, which was upheld by CAF’s appeals board.
According to CAF, leaving the field in accordance with Article 84 of the Rules of the Match means forfeiting the match.
In the statement, it was announced that the Senegalese players violated Article 82 by leaving the match and as a result, Article 84 was applied.
According to the CAF decision, according to article 84, Senegal lost the match, so Morocco recognized Morocco as the winner with 3-0, officially declared as the champion.
