Former Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Najam Sethi said that the problems in the series between Pakistan and India were not due to security but to the misbehavior of the Indian government and board officials.
While giving an interview to Khaleej newspaper, Najam Sethi said that in 2015, former Indian board chairman Srinivasan had invited him to Mumbai to discuss the Pakistan-India cricket resumption agreement at a neutral venue, but after waiting for hours at the hotel, the meeting was canceled without reason and he was told that the police were waiting to take him to the airport.
Najam Sethi said that India canceled the series several times, Pakistan took the court route, but the ICC Disputes Review Committee sided with India. Pakistan joined Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup, boards like England and Australia kept quiet due to financial interests. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated the current position presented by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi a few days ago.
He said informal back channel talks between Pakistan and the ICC on the World Cup dispute are ongoing, but Pakistan has made its position clear. If there is a clash with India in the semi-final or final, Pakistan may take the stand on February 15. Whatever the ICC does, Pakistan will resist, which will create legal and political complications.
